September ramblings

Various bits Door hardware
Well, it's been an interesting month or two. I have my forge up and running though I still need a few things done, like a steel workbench and power and lights, but I'm getting by.
The course, and all who sail upon it, is progressing well and we are all getting on and learning something about ourselves in the meantime. We have four weeks to go till the end of term. Jen and I are looking forward to some time away over at the in laws at Grafton. It will give me a chance to check out the works of the local smiths in that neck of the woods.
We plan on takling a liesurely three day drive to get over there and to stay for eight days.

As the photos show, I've turned out a few things so far and I'm quite happy
with them. The floor standing candelabra is a work in progress.
Most of the group at school have their own forges at home like mine so by the time the course ends in December, we will all be independant and capable of working on our own.

The mitsubishi trio (myself included) would like to form a cooperative and work together, and, to that end, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, with the possibility of government asssistance to set up a a business.
It's early days yet but we are working on it.
We were to do a demostration of our work at the Adelaide Royal Show, however, the politics and poor support from the TAFE college and insurrance hassles put an end to that.
We have had quite a few disappointments throughout the course
via the lack of support from the TAFE management. They need to open their minds and get their collective heads out of the behinds.
They haven't generated any goodwill to us and I doubt they will get any recommendations from us as a group.
Anyway, enough of the bitching. The weather is absolutely glorious and we have Fathers Day tomorrow and I have been busy brewing up a selection of dark ales, stouts and Mexican lager so it's going to be a hoot. At least I don't have any trouble
staying hydrated in the forge.

Hope to make another entry when we return from holidays.
