July-The Garden Gate
JULY NEWS
I have been in the throes of designing a gate and fly over for our slowly developing Aussie teahouse.
Pagan_Egyptian theme gate.
I have finally got the solar panel and lighting up and running. All that is to be done is the purchase and installation of drop down PVC blinds for weatherproofing and the addition of a small drinks bar and fridge.Lets hope Jen gets a good tax return this year.
As far as blacksmithing goes, I have ordered a blower fan through the Farriers and blacksmith association. I'd like to have a cheaper running blower than the vacumn cleaner. I can then use the vacumn as a backup in emergencies.
OTHER NEWS OF NOTE
Jen found a young lady blacksmith in the hills who happens to be the daughter of one of her work mates.
We payed a visit last week and I must admit her work is very well done and spans a wide range of styles. Rebecca of "PigIron Forge" has a nice forge setup and a power hammer(the lucky devil).
In other news, I had the pleasure of spending a quiet couple of hours at the Macclefield hotel a few sundays ago, and while spending a penny, noticed a large out building at the rear of the hotel. Anyway, after a chat with the owner Bronte, I asked him if it would be available for setting up a forge. Much to my delight he agreed that it would be possible and rent free. The only hitch is getting Public Liability Insurrance, to which, I am in the process of obtaining quotes.
The space isn't large but it is big enough to host a forge and all the basics, to be able to take on small work jobs that could be sold at the door or at the markets that are held every two weeks at the local oval. I have a couple of colleagues interested, so I hope I can pull it off.
IN THE FORGE
Other than the gate, I made a three post candelabra and a letter opener for a bit of fun. The candelabra turned out well but the letter opener is a little too large to be functional, however, some may find it a good size.
Anyway, I'll sign off for now. When I have the flyover built and the gate installed I'll post again.
