Another major mile stone.
ABASA Website.
I have spent the last couple of months building a web site for A.B.A.S.A and trying different things as far as content go and settled on a basic easy to read site. I finally got it hosted after months of delays. The costs are reasonable for our association, considering the benefits of being on line these days. If I had a dollar for every time I have been asked whether we have a web site, I'd be a millionaire. The other factor was that we aren't known to the greater black smithing fraternity in South Australia. It's a bit hard trying to network with the many smiths out there in the country and around Adelaide if they don't know about us.
Anyway, the sites up and going and I have to learn how to update everything without crashing it. I think I'll being on the 'L' plates for a while. In the meantime, we have a presence on Facebook. I don't know how that will go but everyone's using it these days, so who knows where it will take us.
Another item on the agenda is the Newsletter. I am close to posting my 8th issue of 'The Bellows'. Some editions have come easy and others like passing a broken beer bottle. This issue, number 8, has been in the easy camp, thanks to the big trip we under took recently. Once all the stories are written from the trip, I worry about where the next story is coming from. You can't win..eh!
One thing I have been able to do with the diminished work load is to get back out to the forge and hit some iron...it felt good. I managed to make a pair of Rail Spike tongs and also play around with a heart design from a slit piece of 16 x 8 stock.

The tongs are pretty light weight but should hold
up for what they are designed to do.

Hearts anyone...might make good wall hangers or
trivets.
